Many security firms and proprietary security departments practice the "detect, deter, observe and report" methodology,
(THE ORIGIN OF OUR NAME "CENSOR").
Security officers are not required to make arrests but have the authority to make a citizen's arrest or otherwise act as an agent of law enforcement at the request of a police officer, sheriff, etcetera.
In addition to the methodology mentioned above, a private security officer's primary duty is the prevention and deterrence of crime. Security personnel enforce company rules and can act to protect lives and property. In fact, they frequently have a contractual obligation to provide these actions.
Security officers are trained to perform arrest and control procedures (including handcuffing and restraints), operate emergency equipment, perform first aid, CPR, take accurate notes, write detailed reports, and perform other tasks as required by the contractee they are serving.
Security officers are required to go through additional training mandated by the state for the carrying of weapons such as batons, firearms, and pepper spray. Some officers are required to complete police certification for special duties. In recent years, due to elevated threats of violent crimes, most security officers are required to have bomb-threat training and/or emergency crisis training, especially those located in soft target areas such as shopping malls, schools, and any other area where the general public congregate.
Security personnel may also perform access control at building entrances and vehicle gates; meaning, they ensure that employees and visitors display proper passes or identification before entering the facility.
Security officers are often called upon to respond to minor emergencies (lost persons, lockouts, dead vehicle batteries, etc.) and to assist in serious emergencies by guiding emergency responders to the scene of the incident, helping to redirect foot traffic to safe locations, and by documenting what happened on an incident report.
Armed security officers are frequently contracted to respond as law enforcement until a given situation at a client location is under control and/or public authorities arrive on the scene.

Guards have a minimum qualification of grade 12 and Grade “E” to "A" PSIRA accreditation.
A security guard or security officer is usually a privately and formally employed person who is paid to protect property, assets, and/or people.
Security officers are uniformed and act to protect property by maintaining a high visibility presence to deter illegal and/or inappropriate actions, observing (either directly, through patrols, or by watching alarm systems or video cameras) for signs of crime, fire or disorder; then taking action and/or reporting any incidents to their client, employer and emergency services as appropriate.
It has to be noted that a guard is deterrent and not a guarantee that crime will not take place. What we can guarantee is that all incidents will receive immediate attention and where necessary our Investigation Team will be called in. We also have excellent back-up systems in place.
GUARDS AVAILABLE 24 HOURS.

BACKGROUND
The validity and reliability of a specific PDD examination (polygraph test) is a direct result of the proper administration of that specific exam. To maximize the known potential of fear of detection of deception resulting in physiological changes inside the human body, these changes being recorded with a polygraph instrument, and the proper identification of these changes by a qualified polygraphist, a comprehensive understanding of Forensic Psychophysiology and the ability to properly administer PDD exams are essential. This understanding and ability results only from quality study and training.
Training as a polygraphist in the distant past usually required an extended stay in the USA. Traveling and accommodation in USA dollar rates means it is extremely expensive for South Africans and many others to attend these courses. Since 1997 the Veri-Dicus Group has presented Basic and Advanced polygraph courses in South Africa, in conjunction with the Argenbright International Institute of Polygraph and the American International Institute of Polygraph. These courses provided South Africans and others with the opportunity to receive internationally accredited polygraph training with some of the best American polygraph instructors, at drastically reduced costs.
Due to the escalation of crime, fraud and corruption on the African Continent, there is a growing need for highly qualified polygraphists. This has resulted in the registration of the American International Institute of Polygraph (South Africa), to facilitate professional, comprehensive and internationally accredited training on the continent.
The course outlined in this bulletin will be presented in conjunction with the American International Institute of Polygraph. Mr. Chuck Slupski will be the visiting instructor from the USA. Mr. Slupski was previously an instructor and Staff Assistant to the Director at the US Department of Defense Polygraph Institute and the Director of the Argenbright International Institute of Polygraph (formerly the Academy of Forensic Polygraph).
Both the American International Institute of Polygraph and the American International Institute of Polygraph (South Africa) have been founded to provide quality training in Forensic Psychophysiology (polygraph) to law enforcement and the private business sector. The American International Institute of Polygraph is fully accredited by the American Polygraph Association (APA).
Completion of an APA accredited basic polygraph examiners course is one of the prerequisites for full membership in the APA.
